Santa Clara County’s Asian population has jumped by 20 percent so far this decade, fast overtaking San Francisco as the county in the continental United States with the largest share of Asians. In order for Santa Clara County to continue thriving, we must pay closer attention to the needs of our growing Asian-American community. As we help Asian immigrants adjust to life in Silicon Valley and become contributors to the economy, we must recognize the need for English-as-a-second-language courses and culturally proficient support services that address the diverse needs of the population.
