Quebes Students Part Of Second-language Acquisition

There is no such thing as English immersion in French schools. Because Bill 101, the language law, prohibits French public schools from teaching any subject in English, other than English as a second language, English immersion is a non-starter, from a legal point of view. Not so for anglophones, though, who have greater latitude. The French-immersion concept as it is practiced in Canada was introduced in 1965 in the South Shore suburb of St. Lambert, just a few suburbs to the east of Châteauguay, where Option Études is now making its debut.
