The Charlottesville VA school division has received an unexpected increase of just less than $163,000 in Title I federal funds for use this year. According to Harley Miles, Charlottesville’s supervisor of assessment and technical services, this is a one-time increase.
The school division plans to use the funding increase to add more hourly reading teacher positions and a half-time English as a Second Language position. The increase will also be used to buy $40,000 of instructional history and science materials at the elementary-school level.
