As a foreign language student, I will tell you that learning a second language is not easy for everyone. Students are bombarded with vocabulary, accent marks and conjugations, and suddenly, what you have always known to be an onion has now become a ‘cebolla.’
I guess that I am lucky in that respect, because I love to memorize vocabulary words. I even like to conjugate verbs!
So, other than the fact that I think it is fun, why do I want to learn a foreign language? First and foremost, I like to learn about places outside of the United States and a foreign language class is a great place to start. My English skills have also greatly improved. I attribute this to the fact that I think not just about what I write, but how I write it. (more…)
